Project Details:
This 15 minute animated short was orchestrated to a blank verse recited by the author. The author himself is an established philosopher who has studied and written extensively and multilingually on the Dnyaneshwari (itself, a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita written by the Marathi saint and poet Sant Dnyaneshwar in 1290 AD).
Having written his own commentary on the Dnyaneshwari in English to make it more accessible to adults worldwide, his next ambition was to make it accessible to the youth in the form of a series of audio-visual animated short films – of which this was the pilot.
The author Dr Ravin Thatte is is a doyen in more ways than one. A professor in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a teacher to most plastic surgeons in India, he has since then also evolved into an Indian philosopher and an active environmentalist.
The author wishes to make the teaching from Dnyaneshwari more accessible to the younger generation and hence the use of animation to convey the abstract concepts that it deals with.
